Ok so am feeling fed up this week. Absolutely nothing I am doing is working well for me. And am feeling pretty tired with it all. I will be fine though, as I have eventually realised that for me this wretched condition is cyclical.
I have a week like this, then a week of just constant highs, then a week of constant lows, and then bliss oh bliss a week of perfection. During this week I am cured. The line on my Libre graph is always in range, with hardly any rises or falls. Am I eating, exercising, sleeping or dressing differently? No! I have changed nothing. I do know the age of the insulin is key. As someone who uses only small amounts of basal I found that it is best to ditch it after three weeks. A waste which I feel guilty about. I wish I could be given half size vials. My bolus lasts exactly two weeks, nearly to the hour, so that’s ok, just! But the new one is always more efficient.
I wear a Libre without any add ons. Overall I cannot complain. It is usually pretty bang on with my blood tests, if I ever feel a need to do them. The difference is minuscule and if you leave the app on, within seconds I can see the Libre move to match the glucose. But then every so often there is a rogue attached to my arm that doesn’t follow the guidelines. I have one on at the moment, which is definitely not helping my mood. It has taken great delight in alarming throughout the night. I switched it off. I mean for goodness sake who is in charge here!!
Onwards into the day. Meeting a good friend for coffee this morning who I haven’t seen for two years. A mood enhancer absolutely.
