Despite being T1 fir decades I have only recently been offered a DAFNE course.
Have you done one?
Did you do it face to face or online?
Was it useful?

Hi hope your all feeling good

I had my DAFNE course about 3-4 years back I’ve been a Diabetic for 50 years now & I really enjoyed it

It was face to face 8 in the group & just to be able to talk to others were we are all in the same boat (Diabetic) talking about things from Ratios to night sweats to swapping best hypo remedies + a lot more.

Just to discuss with others with Diabetes made it a good experience for me &

I learnt a lot more than I expected to my HbA1 has dropped & my control is a lot better

but a Big part of that is from starting Libre

I was originally scheduled for a face to face course, but had to drop out as I broke my shoulder and couldn't drive. Finally back on an online course (no face to face offered) in 2021. I think we were a group of 6 plus the course educator. Five of us had Libres or Dexcom (me) and I was the only lowcarber in the group. I found it very helpful in fine-tuning I:C ratios (and estimating dosing for proteins) and correction dosing. I'm now not that strict counting carbs/proteins and dosing exactly, but the course was definitely helpful. The educator had me prescribed a ketone meter which is very useful.

Also I believe completing a DAFNE (or equivalent) course is a requirement to be eligible as an adult to be recommended for a NHS funded pump.

I don't know when you were diagnosed, @honeybunny1 but I attended a DAFNE course 12 years after my diagnosis and found it useful.
I confess I learnt little from the actual course content but it was fantastic to meet and talk to others with diabetes. Some were relative new comers to the condition but, others, like me, had been living with Type 1 for 10 years or more and had the "scars" to prove it. I learnt much more about diabetes complications from those experiencing them than reading in a book.
The other huge benefit was that the DAFNE course was a pre requisite for an insulin pump. A few months after the course, I was offered a pump and would never have the opportunity if my DSN had not had seen my willingness to invest in my diabetes management.
