Daily aspirin

Not sure of the full story but every medicine has contraindications. Just because they are available, they may not be suitable for everyone. One example would be stomach ulcers, yes for sale, but a pharmacist would not sell to person, or shouldn't anyway.

Which Sainsbury's was it? I've never had any problems buying them from the one near Pool Meadow.

I wouldn't take a daily dose of aspirin unless it was prescribed for me, it can lead to stomach irritation in some people and this may be why the pharmacist refused to sell it to you.

I'm sure it wouldn't do too much harm, however I see you are on medication for your diabetes as opposed to insulin so be sure to check the interactions between aspirin and each of them before taking it. For example I noticed that aspirin can potentiate the effects of some sulfonylurea meds ( bg lowering tablets) possibly causing an unexpected hypo.

Aspirin is a definite no-no for me and many other asthmatics as they can cause massive asthma attacks. My wife can still recall the last time I had aspirin nearly 30 years ago and neither she nor I would wish to go through that again.

I was prescribed a daily dose of 70mg aspirin a few years back when I had a heart attack but also had to be prescribed a med for my stomach so that it didn't get irritated and lead to problems because of the aspirin.

you shouldn't just start taking something without consulting your doctor! I suggest you speak to your GP first before you go ahead and start taking the aspirin.

I have to take 100mg of asprin a day (with breakfast) here is Spain they do not have 75mg. I also take a blood pressure tablet, but I take the BP pillin the evening. I do not have blood pressure problems, the kidney specialist put me on the pill to ´protect´ my kidneys.

On the subject of being refused asprin in a chemist shop, I used to work in a chemists and an elderly lady, who was diabetic and almost blind, came in to buy the corn removing liquid, and a blade to cut the corn off, I refused to sell them to her, she was very annoyed, but I stood my ground and said sorry, it was too dangerous for her. She said her daughter, who was a DR, told her to buy them. I still refused, I told her about my father being diabetic and having gangrene caused by a corn being cut (by a chiropodist!)
She went off in a huff but came back a week later and apologised for being grumpy and said I was correct in not selling them to her.
