Great find foxy,

The low carb members already now the effects of their diets, perhaps things are gaining momentum now.

Thanks Graham

I am going to print that Saga article off and give it to my mum. Despite suffering with all manner of diabetic problems she will not cut down her carbs because her doctor originally told her she had to eat carbs with every meal!
I can't talk to her anymore about it because it drives me up the wall, took her shopping at the weekend (can only drive very short distances because of numb feet) and she was moaning all the time about feeling hot and unwell, she had had a bowl of cereal for breakfast! Sometimes for lunch she has a banana sandwich, she doesn't even do low Gi, her bread is all white, she likes smoothies thinking they are fine because they have no added sugar. Hopefully she may read the article!

When i did dafne course (waste of time) they said white bread was as good as wholemeal, in terms of whether diabetics could eat it or not. Well according to Bernstein they are all as good as a bag of sugar anyway :)

The message of dafne seemed to be - eat as many carbs as you like and inject insulin to cover it. Think it is an acronym for 'dose adjustment for normal eating' They gave us jacket spud and beans as a sample meal for the first lunchtime (!). I remember one guy saying he was off down the pub for beer and chips the evening of the first day.

Ps everyone on my dafne course was as fat as anything, and that was before they'd begun to follow the dafne principles!

Thats the way to go Alice I like your style,

Regards Graham
