Damned Doctors Should Be Hung Drawn & Quartered

Wait a minute..
a doctor told you, a type one diabetic to stop taking insulin?
I can't get my head round that. I've never heard anything so insane and if that's the case then this person does not have a clue and should not be a Doctor.

Being in your situation has almost landed me dead a dozen times.

It doesn't sound like you're going to go but I plead with you to listen to what everyone here has said.

Before you all hang draw and quarter this doctor can we please remember one thing.
The doctor knows the OP's medical history,we don't. We only know what we have been told by the OP. There may be many other circumstances that caused this decision to be made that we are unaware of.

Totally agree, I think the original post was misleading and we do not know the full story. I suspect its not the GPs that were at fault - just my personal opinion.

Simba was around yesterday. No posts.

But nothing today?

No.

Simba was going through a honeymoon phase and as Simba stated, his insulin was reduced and stopped by his diabetes consultant. He also stated that he attended the hospital for monitoring. It sounds to me that he was doing everything correctly, and his GP should be supporting him.
During my honeymoon period, which was approx 10 months after my initial diagnosis, my insulin needs reduced, and I was on NO insulin for about a month.
For people who are lucky to have an understanding, supportive and informed GP, as I have; we must remember that it is not the situation for some patients- and the impact of that should not be underestimated.
I hope Simba, if you're reading this, you have got things sorted out. I have found some comments directed at you quite harsh, judgemental and unnessecary. People come on this forum for help and advice, and Simba was clearly and understandably upset, even if his first posting did not give the whole story.

We were harsh because the facts, as he presented them, suggested mismanagement.
I gave him a kick (like the one I got that saved my life) and then gave him advice.
When he elaborated his story my advice remained the same. It bothered my a bit that my post was singled out from the various other posts with the same message.
My biggest problem was still present in the follow up post. He needed to go to hospital and didn't want to. Now I'm worried that something has happened because he wouldn't go.
