I was diagnosed as prediabetic almost 3 years ago and I have got the low carb eating regime as part of my life now, have lost weight (though not enough) and my sugar levels are down. However I know I should exercise more. I do an hour of strenuous fun tennis once a week, walk to the supermarket and back a few times a week, take a walk when the weather is fine (not often at this time of year in northern Europe) and that is about it.
I was enjoying the Bryan Adams TV concert on New Year’s Eve and that got me thinking about how in my youth I used to dance for hours every Saturday night at discos and about all the great music CDs I have sitting on a shelf not being used. So on New Year’s Day morning I slipped off my shoes and socks and danced alone in my living room for 25 minutes to the Groover from Vancouver. I loved it, the time went quickly and I built up a healthy sweat. I have decided to dance to different music every morning going through my music collection alphabetically. I am 6 days in and this morning I danced to 5 tracks from my CHANGES BOWIE album. It does not cost me a penny and every day I wake up looking forward to my morning dance.
My New Year's resolution is to exercise daily for a minimum of 25 minutes - a walk if the weather is fine, dancing if it is not and of course my weekly tennis. As I am retired this is all easily doable.
