My dad has been diabetic for a few years He has been taking tablets most of the time however recently because his levels were very high he has been moved onto insulin as well as tablets ( they are trying to reduce the tablets ) his blood levels have been hitting 22+ !! He has been On the insulin for a few days and today he did blood in the morning it was nine but because it was so hot by the afternoon it rose to 17 !!! What levels are potentially fatal for a type 2 diabetic ??

And will the insulin help reduce and balance his blood ?

Yes the insulin taken in the right doses will lower blood sugar levels. It's a bit of a balancing act, and might take some settling in time but everyone is different.
The high bs you've mentioned although they are high and long term that could be bad, but for now they don't sound to dangerous, specially as it early days and he is trying to bring it down. Don't worry to much it will get better
