Sorry to be a bit personal..

I went to the Diabetes clinic at our surgery. I mentioned to the nurse that I was having problems with my foreskin. I was having infections similar to phimosis. She at once stopped me using dapagliflozin. This drug makes you pee out the sugars in the blood. So the poor old member was getting a big dose of sugar! A course of antibiotics sorted the infection for a year or so.

Alas, the infection has returned several times. Treatment from the Doc includes hydrocortisone cream, which works slowly, and an antibiotic cream. These treatments last for 10 days according to the label on the packet. They do work, but the infections return a week or so after the drug course..........

I guess the answer is to be better at my diabetes (2) control. But in the meantime, depression sets in, making dark days as well as nights...

Having Prostrate problems as well does not help with that area of the body. I take a tablet for that as well

Are you having any meds for diabetes, now, @mj224?
Also, how are your blood glucose levels? If you are able to keep those at reasonable levels, you could find the infections stop.

Yes, any disorder which impedes the flow of urine will allow infection to take hold and diabetes may predispose you to such infections, as you realise.

I would aim to drink 6 to 8 glasses of fluid a day. You can't beat water from the tap, but sugar-free drinks, including tea and coffee, all count.

Better control of your BG levels would help no end, so please hang in there. Your FBG readings are heading in the right direction.

Thanks both for comments.

Yes Pipp, I am having metformin for the diabetes. Last morning's count was 13.5, so I am working on that count.

I am going on a long holiday shortly, which should take me out of my usual bad habits, and hopefully be on a better diet and drink routine.
