Saw the DN today and she’s prescribed me Dapagliflozin to take alongside my Metformin.

Of course I came home and started googling and have found all manner of horror stories from raging thrush and itching to constant peeing and fainting!!

So I thought better to ask you sensible lot about your experiences?

I was on Forxiga for about a month, and it gave me a rather intense UTI infection. I needed quite severe antibiotics to shift it, A;though UTI;s are usually not a major issue, the infection they engender can climb up inside and get to the kidneys, and this can become quite serious, In my case the infection I cultivated was staphylococcus aureus which is a big bad boy indeed, The problem with glucose laden urine is that it is ideal food for this type of virus, which goes om, and om, and nom.

Have not been on it since, and would avoid it now I have seen the FDA warning about DKA associated with this family of drugs (see link to thread posted by Indy51 above).

been on it for 3yrs with no issues, my diabetic nurse at the time advised using a spray down there as a preventative for yeast infections & its worked well its called topida & you can buy it on amazon, two sprays at night
