Then it's a great coarse selection filter. If they're not prepared to accept you for who you are, they aren't exactly "soul mate material".

On Friday my 26 year old son arrived home with a very pretty young lady. Hi all! This is ***** my girlfriend, and she's staying the weekend!! :***: er..... Hi!

(we haven't got a smiley with a dropped jaw) As a family we were reeling with shock. No1 Son has a Chemistry Masters but is out of work - despite trying very very hard he cannot even get a McJob - so, because he felt he had nothing to offer, he wouldn't ask girls out. I tried telling him that any girl who was worth her salt would love him for him, not what he could offer her, but he wouldn't have it. He was very depressed with low self esteem, and started to shut himself away in his room. His sister did her level best to introduce him to her friends but nothing doing. Anyway, he's known ***** for a few months and has been going on day trips to her house hundreds of miles away, all in total secrecy.

So, you imagine our utter shock. It is even more shocking to find *****, who was staying to tea, standing in your bathroom wearing pretty blue jamas! Some notice would have been good - for meal planning and extra thorough housework (thank gawd I'd had a fit with a duster in the week) but I digress.....

........I'm trying to say he met her on one of the internet dating sites a couple of months ago!

I wouldn't want to explain my diabetes either ( I was diagnosed in intensive care and my then partner told me) as i've enough to repel people with but know i'd have to disclose it.

One thing i've noticed since turning 30 is that people my age all tend to be settling down or are single because they want to be. If I wanted to date right now i'd have to go younger again or older as men my age (30-35 ish) are thin on the ground.

Hi Shygirl I had to reply to your post, I feel the same as you do. I haven't been on a dating site, you just don't know who they really are do you? As for diabetes, well, meeting someone who has the same condition or has a family member who has it, would probably help break the ice. It's best to talk about general things to start off with, and then, if both parties are still interested after a couple of dates, then just ease diabetes into the conversation, if they head for the door then they are just not worth going after, the good ones will stay and want to get to know you better, I'm sure there's someone out there . I

Well, I have joined couple of dating sites in last 2 years and I met around 4-5 men who were eligible for references. I spent some money too for finding Mr. Perfect but somehow you should have experience of knowing the good of wrong one.

im the same as craigybus,met my partner on POF,did meet a few women who needed to get there head out there own ****,and a couple of nutty ones,but not on the stalking scale.i think POF probs has a higher percentage of married folk on it looking for extras!! esp on the male side.but as people say,just keep an eye on the times they phone or text or dont phone or text etc.if its always late at nite,or they dont answer in the evenings etc,gotta be a dodgy sign.all the best.

Haaaaaaaa! Roy you crack me up. :lol:

Find a date here then in Indonesia - being second to China per capita for Diabetes - the ladies all have someone that they know with Type 1 or 2. But, in any case, I have never seen any reservation about the illness - rather, it awakens the caring side of their character and culture.

Cannot speak for the men however ha ha ha

I went on a 1st date yesterday after being on a dating site and so far so good.

I will say there are some very strange people on there, there are also people who seem to use it as a hook up service. But all in all there are some lovely people on these sites.

They're beautiful animals,aaahhhhhhh. I haven't gone on any dating sites, too risky to be honest for me, I am a bit on the cautious side and my greatest worry would be my child( I'm sure you understand what I am getting at), you just don't know if what the man says is true or not and if there is anything 'dodgy' then, he's not going to be tattooed on his forehead is he?. My D's safety and welfare is my main concern. Maybe one day that special person will come my way...................... ( I'mnot getting any younger :lol: )
