Sorry Ger, any dad would be worried and nothing I or anyone else says can alter that. In the case of our lad he unfortunately didn't survive his illness. I didn't really want to go into details because I don't want to unnecessarily alarm you. There are a multitude of things that can cause problems with our limbs. I replied simply to reassure you that having a scan is the correct thing to do and your medical team are right onto it by the sounds of things. I know you will be worried but you will not know any more until a positive diagnosis is made. Best you can do now is love and support.

No problem Ger. I was more concerned for you than me. This was way back in 2002 but seems like last week. I guess it's tomorrow over there by now so best of luck for you both. One thing about the MRI is that if a head and spine scan is being done it can get quite noisy and claustrophobic in the machine. At 13 the radiologist may suggest a sedative.
I know Ireland quite well, where abouts do you live.

Over here in Aussie I played a few years of GAA with a few mad Irish lads back in the 90s. Great fun. Haven't been over since '95. Overdue I think. Have an ex just over the county border from you in Limerick.
Hope it goes well for you today.

I was just wondering if any new meds for your daughter before her attack? If sent home I'm guessing not life threatening? When is her MRI scan booked for, soon or next month?Hi all. Living in Ireland and decided to join this forum as Ireland seems to just adopt any new medicines from the Uk. My daughter was diagnosed oct 16 type 1 she has recently been diagnosed Coeliac. She is 13 the poor kid. She was tAking into hospital last week as she had week legs and a hand. She was let out and brought back today as things have not improved. They are doing an mri scan tomorrow. Has anyone ever gone through something similar. Thanks for reading this post from a worried sick dad.

I have weak legs and have difficulty walking but I have a nipped S1 in my pelvis so scatica too. My msk specialist said diabetes affects everything. Muscles, vessels, ligaments etc...
How is your daughter's diabetes hba1c levels?
Mine felt more like an attack then an injury.
I'm wishing your daughter well.
Getting the best results for sugar control is always beneficial. Has your daughter a good diabetic team?
At least she is home with you. Fingers crossed for decent news, guess they would have called/kept her in if they were too worried.Hi there got the mri done Friday let her home still waiting on a phone call that’s the health service in ireland for you.
Good luck Ger. It does seem to be taking a long time though. I guess if there was something obvious you'd know by now. Hang in there, we're all rooting for you.
