Hi,
I wondered if any other users of the forum had discussed this theory with their GP? There is a lot of information on USA sites, and I honestly believe that I can relate with the statistics available. Some DR]'s are reluctant to comment. I have tried to manage DB2 with as little medication as possible. I started off with 30 tablets a day. Metformin is not available to my country as a slow release tablet, so I was on 9 a day.
My question is this:
Is there anyone who has encountered this phenomenon and if so, what (if anything) has been done to solve it?
Without getting too technical, the statistics show that certain individuals have a high sugar reading first thing in a morning and yet have a well managed level throughout the day. This "surge" is shown to occur between 3 am - 5 am in a morning, whilst sleeping. I have tested this on several occassions, and sure enough an increased reading between 2-4 is seen over that time. I have woken at three and had a snack to see if it controls it. Though I do get a slightly lower fasting result, the rest of the day is out of kilter.
I am interested to know if I can change anything to resolve this blip without injections or tablets?. I am happy with most of my other readings. My average morning / fasting reading is between 8-9.5 . My before bed reading is usually below 6. I have tried snacking before bed, with no real fasting benefit.
Any info will be helpful
Cheers
