Hello

I'm type 1 and about 2 years ago was told all about the dawn phenomenon which was great because I finally understood why my bg was rising in the morning however its a massive pain! Is anyone else effected by it? I've manged to work out that if my blood is anything over 7 and I'm not having breakfast I must take some novo rapid. The issue I have is when I go swimming before work my blood rockets with the swim and the blasted dawn pheomenon!!
Would appreciate any help or similar stories. Thanks

**** pain DP, I don't suffer from it to the extent some people do but nonetheless it can cause problems.

I find my DP kicks-in later in the morning than some folk ( after 7 am) so always wake before this time and take my insulin and eat upon waking, this seems to work for me and I'm pleased that it doesn't occur any earlier.

To stop your bg from rocketing after your swim you need to start eating breakfast, if you don't then your liver will release glycogen to compensate for the lack of food, you have to remember that the body is just like a car and you need to put fuel in for it to run :)
