What has happened to me ... Is it the Tresiba - had anyone else has issues with it?
Hi to all out there!
I've not posted for a long time so new to this still. I've had T1 for 43yrs and have always managed it with insulin. I'm 59yrs old and have had good control over the years but apparently have some slight retinopathy in left eye but not affecting vision so far, and also Osteo arthritis, Carpel tunnel, and trigger fingers which I've been told are common with diabetes?
My issue is much worse than this - I have been suffering neck and shoulder pain from frozen shoulders etc over the years which have been operated on, but last year due to an increase in pain which had spread to most of the upper body I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
Previous to this I had been changed onto Tresiba about 8mths before, and before this I was on Levemir for years. I was taken off it because I had some lows ? Control was good though and I had maintained a good weight for years and was very active.
In the last year I have been trying to wean off strong pain relief medication but it continues to worsen.
My quality of life is poor, I don't sleep well, it's hard to maintain full time work, and exercise is painful - during and afterwards!
What has happened to me ... Is it the Tresiba - had anyone else has issues with it?
Hi, the frozen shoulder would have been diagnosed by xray, i imagine, were you referred for this latest pain which was diagnosed as fibromyalgia? It is not a very meaningful term. We all age much as the rest of the population, and get some of the usual ageing problems, especially if we have a genetic tendency - eg. OA, which, i am told by a doctor, most of the population has signs of on Xray by 60-65, tho some are spared the pain for years. Then, for many Type one's, there may be the likelihood of more autoimmune disease. Look at your relatives' histories - any eg. PMR? This is common anyway, in older people, it often starts round the shoulders, it is an autoimmune disease which can be very variable and, in some, very debilitating, it burns itself out over several years - two of my relatives had it - you could check with your GP if not done so already? In rushed surgeries the tendency may be to focus on diabetes related things - it may not be...? I hope things sort out

HiThanks to all for your responses - I'm just a little overweight and don't take statins at all. I do have turmeric with black pepper each day but nothing helps. As for artificial sweeteners I try and avoid as much as I can so only have the occasional yogurt that may have it in?
I've had the ops on my shoulders and there's no more the can do for my neck pain but it's bearable. It's the all over burning feeling of pain, being lethargic and muscle and joints just not as active as they were up to starting Tresiba.
I've made an appointment to go and discuss with my diabetes specialist nurse to see if there is another insulin I could try?
Oh yes I did try Toujeo for a while before the Tresiba but control not good.
Not sure what else I can do?
did you stop tresiba and did this stop pain right awayHi
I recently got swapped to Tresiba (Degludec) 30units each night, also on nova rapid and slow release metphormin I used to take LANTUS on an evening, but this was changed last week. I DO suffer from joint pain. However, this is linked, I'm told to a new diagnosis of Fibromayalgia. However since starting this Tresiba, I've experienced a lot of joint cramps. I'll be discussing with my GP on Monday. Hope you're feeling better soon
I just started taking Tresiba and Victoza. On the left side I inject Tresiba and now Im having stomache muscle pains and a little spot of redness on my left side. I will probably get a appt with the dr and try to get it on a monday cause this stomache muscle pain really hurts. I been taking pain pills but, its not helping much I can sleep though thanks to God. Did you experience any of this. Let me know and if you did how are you treating it?Hi to all out there!
