I was going to ask this too as I going for an extraction in a few days. Will test before and after. (If I remember as I am terrified of dentists ).
 
It's more than likely due to your bodies reaction to the work you've had done today, in times of injury, illness and stress bg levels do go up.
 
Yep, it sounds like it was very stressful for you and stress can cause a rise in BG. But I wouldn't rule out the painkillers as well, maybe someone with more knowledge will share.
 
Injury definitely raises blood glucose, as does stress. Also the normal anaesthetic used in dentistry is cocaine...
