I can usually detect the onset of a mild hypo at around 5 mmol/L and much stronger below 4 mmol/L as you would expect.

I can't really offer any help other than if it continues then get in touch with your DSN as they usually have the answers.
 
Tricky one. Yes the sick and trembly feeling comes from the rate of fall as much as from the actual level. Your meter may read as much as 20% off either way. And the blood sugar in your fingertips will be half an hour behind your main bloodstream. And when you are hypo and confused and eating sugar it's easy to get some on your fingers. So it could be some or all of these things. But yes, it is weird.
