T1 husband has been poorly now for about 5 weeks. They've found the infected diabetic ulcer and are treating it. the bladder infection seems to have cleared, but something else is going on, which we haven't got to the bottom of. I hope it's just that antibiotics don't agree with him and that his kidneys [already pretty bad and leaking sodium] are rebelling and when the antibiotics finish, everything will slowly return to as normal as possible. His blood pressure is all over the place too. dropping to 80/60 quite suddenly. Anyway, bloods and urine have gone to the lab and I'm doing my best. For 4 weeks, he ate almost nothing and has lost about 12kg [which he can afford!] So that he keeps his strength up to heal, I've been trying to tempt with specially nice food. Today, w had fillet steak for lunch 90seconds ach side and 2 minute rest! with it we had fried mushrooms and celery braised with fresh tomatoes, a little onion and garlic. I also added 10 McCain Delicious oven Chips. I had 4 he had 6.[we shared the equivalent of one smallish potato!] These are amazing and the portion size works for us. For dessert, we shared a nectarine and finished up with coffee. He's now gone back to bed. the hole in his foot has to be kept elevated.
I'm exhausted, but I still have too much to do. I have to mend a leaky pipe in the bathroom. I got some putty stuff at the ironmongers, which is meant to set even under water. Hope it works, the pipe is in an awkward place. Replacing it would be a plumbing nightmare involving draining down the central heating system.
