anybody got any idea's ?

Do you see a diabetes specialist? Your specialist should be able to give you advice and a prescription for a suitable substitute. The first one that springs to mind would be Novomix 30. But you need to make the change under the supervision of a doctor/specialist who can give you advice about doses etc.

My daughter used to be on Mixtard 10 and that was discontinued about a year or two ago.

Hi Sponge
I would recommend Hypurin Porcine 30/70 mix. Here's a link from the Wockhardt website http://www.wockhardt.co.uk/products/sea ... ountry=112
It's the safer option, animal insulins are highly purified, long-term tested and proven safe over many years.
Shame on Novo Nordisk for discontinuing this insulin .They are soon to discontinue ALL synthetic "human" insulins in favour of their range of "analogue" insulins which include Novomix, for no other reason than financial.
Analogue insulins were introduced around 13 years ago and their long-term safety completely unknown. Anyone taking these insulin types, me included, are the long-tem safety studies
Choice of insulin types is crucial, especially as an increasing number of patients are reporting problems and side-effects on analogue insulins.

The doctor SHOULD have known of the demise of mixtard. We were all sent notification months ago and leaflets to give to patients when they brought us a prescription.... the GPs were told at the same time.

I have only had 2 patients swap so far (both to Novomix 30) BUT both have had BG stability problems initially although one has now settled down
