Hi I've recently been diagnosed with diabetes but have been told that my prescriptions are now free but would like to know if I would be entitled to free dental care?

Hi Jamieclem
welcome to the forum:)
i am diabetic and unfortunately not to my knowledge

It will not cover drilling and filling but if your dentist gives you meds for something like an infection you can use the exemption at the pharmacy.

As far as I understand things, diabetic scripts are free of charge, but anything else, dental or optical charges, have to be paid for. Not sure that I agree with urban racer. If you have a dental infection and need Anti Bs, I think you may have to pay for it. I'm happy to be corrected:)

I had to pay for treatment but got my antibiotics on my exemption card. Diabetics whether they are T1 or T2 whether on meds or diet only get free eye tests but have to pay for specs unless they are exempt by other means

Just out of curiosity, why would a dental infection, having nothing to do with diabetes and needing Anti Bs be exempt??
