Hi novowolf, Firstly, Sorry to hear you are feeling depressed. I was clinically depressed a few years ago and I dread ever going back to feeling that way. Prior to that I had some other bouts of depression, but nothing as bad. They did affect my control as I tended to fill the void / sinking feeling with food, which affected my blood sugar control, which made me feel more depressed and so on. I found a few things helped me- 1. I took antidepressants - I felt I needed them to hold it altogether. I credit them with helping to get me through an awful period in my life, but I also hated them because they didn't make me feel great. However if I was in a similar state again I would consider taking them again. 2. CBT - I had this on the NHS so the wait time was a little while but it really helped to talk to someone. I have a supportive other half but as much as I wanted to open up about how I was feeling to him, I drew a complete blank every time I tried, but with a counsellor I didn't have this problem. I would recommend trying some kind of talk therapy and I now wouldn't hesitate to seek it out if I felt depressed again. 3 - I am low-carb now. Not for everyone I know, but it helps to not have such violent swings in blood sugar levels and because my sugar is rarely (unless I'm very ill) above 8 I feel a lot more in control around my diabetes. This helps to keep me feeling more positive and less worried about he future. I hope you find something to help you and you're on the road to recovery soon!
