3 months after diagnosis I got my Desmond course today. Went in quite sceptical as I’ve read others experience of this wasn’t good and I have taken lots of advice from the forum. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, everything was very well explained in sections including the roles of fat, protein and carbohydrates and how they work within the body. No mention of the eat well plate just portion control and how everyone is individual in how they respond to certain foods. Still no mention of self testing but I hope this means the NHS is moving on in recognising the role of carbs, I mentioned I was doing low carb and there was no adverse reaction. Overall I enjoyed the course and appreciated their efforts to explain it all

That is good. My Desmond day three years ago was the standard plate and that was useless for me. However I am a very atypical T2 as I was not overwieght and had no idea I was diabetic until I went for a free medical as I hadn't seen a Dr for years; my glucose was 18.4mmol/L and my HbA1c was 10.4 but I had no symptoms!

Hope you manage your levels well and avoid complications.
