Hi ALL

Im on a Desmond course tommorow and again next Tuesday, Whos been on it and what can i expect? anything i should ask them and More important is it worth going to?

Only got the appointment a week ago, did not know i was down to be on the course, is this something all type 2 get are sent to by default or does it depend whch PCT you are under.

I think it very much depends on your PCT Brian, my PCT haven't funded a DESMOND course.

I'd never even heard of a DESMOND course, but thanks Brian - it sounds like just what I need (I looked it up on Google). I'm going to see if my PCT run this course.
 
Hi Brian,
From previous postings there have been about DESMOND, it would appear that very few PCTs offer it, presumably on cost grounds. I think many of us would be very interested to hear your views on the course, particularly their attitude towards diet and carbohydrate intake.

I've been on the course it was Ok apart from the Dietary advice, with no Dietician in attendance I could not get any satisfactory answers to my questions about carbs. The DSN and Podiatrist that took the course only quoted the usual carbs with every meal advice. For me the best part was meeting other Diabetics and comparing notes. Maybe you will strike it lucky and get a Dietitian on you course.

Thanks for the replys. It will be very interesting to see what they say about carbs etc. Will try to get some answers from them. Anyone got any good questions i could ask, Bearing in mind im new to this and not got my head around the carbs thing fully.

Will try to give a full report on todays session later on.

Tell us all about it, so we can do it sccondhand.My PCT doesn't fund anything. NOT DAFNE NOT DESMOND, NOT TEST STRIPS
