Self absorbed and rude people! Motorists who are oblivious to the rest of the world, and really don't give a ****!
I have been reading the articles on DESMOND with much interest, but when I visited the site to find out information for my area i.e. South East, I found they all seemed to refer to newly diagnosed diabetics, also is there a fee? Does anyone know have any further on this (I have written to them in the meantime) or any experience of DESMOND?

Hi Hp - have you read this thread? maybe it would be of some use to you.

When I did the course I was told it was for newly diagnosed and those wanting to learn more no matter how long thay had been diagnosed - it is a NHS thing so there is no charge but if they do it in your area it may have a long waiting list

Hi, I too did the DESMOND course 6months after being diagnosed it was free NHS provided and places are hard to get as lovinglife says can be a long waiting list. Could you ask about it ? next time you vist clinic/DSN . There is another course called EXPERT for new insulin basal/bolus regime It is a 6weekly course again NHS funded [in my area] anyway. Hope this helps you? Anna.x :)

i also completed DESMOND (in Ireland) and there was a variety of people there, mostly newly diagnosed over the last six months, but one or two had it for two years and one for twenty years.
