Hi,
Normally at your surgery one of the doctors will be a champion in diabetes. Find out who it is and make an appointment. Tell them your concerns. Im not convinced you should be playing about with your insulin levels yourself.I did as Im suggesting because I'm type 2 but badly managed. I am under my hospital and go there every 6 months and get guidance from a specialist who advices me on medication. Appointment tomorrow. Make a nuisance of yourself. Be realistic though if you want to get better levels then you have to take some responsibility of what you put in your mouth. Im the worlds worst because I suffer from depression and comfort eat. I recognise this in myself and i'm trying hypnotherapy amongst other things. You should have been given the telephone number for the diabetes specialist nurses at your local hospital. The surgery will help you with these numbers and the nurses are available for advice daily.

Hi I am type 1 had it for 20 years . I've gained weight over the years . Joined slimming world 5 month ago and I have lost 2.5 stone , I would recommend slimming world as u don't have to cut anything out . Still got another 2.5 stone to go .

I've managed to lose a lot of weight by making sure I walk everywhere, no longer cycle or bus. Make two journeys, one to shop, one to the post office, where as would have done 1 round trip before.
Aim at 12,500 steps a day, that with healthier eating has gone some way to dropping my weight.

Hi,
I'm Type 2 with a sugar reading between 6 & 8 using One Touch Select Plus and taking one100mg Sitagliptin per day.
Since loosing weight 6 years ago I had put on 1st 4lb in weight. I made an appt to see my diabetic nurse and she told me about the NHS Health Trainers. I contacted my local group and was put on a diet of my choice and chose low fat and low sugar. The Health Trainers course was originally for 12 weeks on a one to one basis every two weeks at my local library for which I have nearly completed 10 of them. In that time I've lost approximately 11lb.
I've since joined another group on an 8 week course called MY WEEKLY HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS GROUP - you get weighed and discuss your food diary which is done on a one to one (like WeightWatchers) but the NHS group is free. And you can follow up after the course finishes.

Hi Pipey.... I am D2, take no meds and control with diet.... I think you'll find that if you test before, and two hours after, eating porridge your BG will be high - mine sky-rockets... all grains will do the same thing... brown or white, makes no difference... if you want to lose weight you have to stop eating them... too much protein is not goo either... no starchy vegetables.... and juice is pure sugar... if you see 'sugar-free' on a product you are buying, don't buy it... or 'low-fat' either... The NHS diet will not help you as they recommend lots of carbs, which are turned into sugar once they are eaten...

Regarding the legality of entitlement to meal breaks. One would think that in an eight hour period one is entitled to a meal break. What I do know is that by law employers have to accommodate health and disabilities, and make allowances to help an employee carry out their duties. If T1's need to eat at regular intervals for health reasons then an employer would have to work with the employee on this and make allowances. Any good employer would happily do this in any case.

Hello !! And what is your blood sugar level ? I mean, how is you blood sugar level mmol/L ?!

Hmmm. Haven't read whole thread, but if the Jason Fung intermittent fasting approach works for you, then once your basal insulin rate is right, fasting for 7 to 8 hrs should be really good for you. You carry Dextrosols and/or emergency stabilising stuff, yes?

Should be really good for you because it will reset your insulin metabolism.

Hi , what i can suggest you is to balance your food , try to avoid fat food also, and drink too much water, i hope it will be helpful for you.
