Dexcom apps?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into trialling the Dexcom G6 (self funded), but I refuse to pay 300 quid for a reader when I can use my phone.

But ... I've just checked the reviews of the Android version and they're really pretty poor, seem to be problems at the moment, which will doubtless be ironed out before long.

And don't even get me started on which android versions it supports

But I wondered if anyone using an iPhone could give any feedback? I'm in the market for a new phone and would consider switching to Apple if it looked more promising. I'm currently using a Samsung which is supported, just not the right os version.

Many thanks, I've been reading various posts about dexcom, currently funded for Libre but looking into semi closed loop with either t:slim or Ypsomed - I'm due for a new pump - so researching the G6.

I didn't know the G6 had a reader...

I'd recommend speaking to dexcom support if you have queries, they are both helpful and knowledgeable.

And thinking ahead, you'll probably want dexcom on your watch. I'm currently using a fitbit with the glance watchface but I believe apple may be slightly more integrated???

Thanks Ellie, I'll give that a try and yes, there is a reader, but I'd rather keep to one bit of tech to carry around if possible.

Neither the latest iPhone nor the latest OS (apparently technically a big change from iOS14) are currently supported by Dexcom, so I was forced to invest in the receiver. This has been working OK until this week - now I am having problems pairing new sensors with the receiver. Waiting for callback from Dexcom support - they're usually good to deal with.

Thank you for this, it's hard to know which option is the best. I'll probably stick with my current Samsung for as long as it chugs along, then have another think about it.
