Thanks to iHs for passing this on.

The Good news: Dexcom have anounced an update to Dexcom G4 software using the algorithm used in artificial pancreas research.

The Bad news: So far it's only available in the U.S.

Interestingly it improves the mard figure to 9%. I think this is slightly better that the Freestyle Libre. Coincidence?

Ooh, and it says the sensors last up to SEVEN days!!!

I have emailed Dexcom in the U.S. to ask when this will be available here.
I also asked if sensors could be restarted. If not I'll stick with the current version.
 
Dexcom reply:
"Unfortunately, at this time a date has not been set for when the new software will be released outside of US. Please check the Dexcom website for updates."

It's OK Dexcom did confirm that sensors can be restarted - together with warnings about why this is not recommended.
 
Anyone got any further news on the Software update?

Have been averaging 3 weeks use per sencor but Current Dexcom sensor has now been in for an amazing 45 days and still going strong!
 
Disappointingly it seems the software update will not be released in Europe due to the time & effort it takes to get approval.
Presumably it will be on the new Dexcom Share receiver which is now available in the USA, costing $199 as an upgrade I read somewhere.
At the moment this works with iPhone only.

Good news on the sensor life you are getting. Mine seem to be doing less well recently, though I'm currently on day 17 and no errors yet.
 
Hi, if some need DEXCOM SOFTWARE UPDATE 505 I can send (I have it because I have american account, it´s required to download it).
I updated some months ago one american receiver perfectly, I don´t know if it will work with european (but I think it will advertise when connect if it´s elegible to update)

I am willing to use my Dexcom receiver as a guinea pig. Could I PM you my email address @pablodr ?
 
absolutely.... no problem. Please, send me your email in private message. I would like too if european devices are elegible to update -since I use american devices- (and only dexcom doesn´t offer to us because laws or similar... in fact, a british receive cannot be differenced to USA receiver). It would be a great new.

"There are no available updates for the attached receiver." :-(

I bought my Dexcom G4 receiver device in the UK.
 
Then update tool check with dexcom server "serial number" to allow or deny update. And to european devices its denied only because patents, laws and similar "things". Would be nice to all update software.

but they prefer we buy again "new" 1000 euros - pounds device every 2 years.... :(
