Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease

Interesting take on on Statins and heart attacks .

I thought that small molecule LDL was one of the culprits and sincemost T2s have the features of Metabolic syndrome, and high levels of SLDL ae part of it, ther might be a link there.
I do worry that a link is often interpreted as "cause and effect"

Metabolic Syndrome has been around for some time now. Nothing new, it's a combination of hypertension, increased visceral fat, high triglycerides, low HDL, Cholesterol, often obesity, and high uric acid levels. It is often associated with Heart Attacks and co-incidentally Diabetes.

New to me as only diagnosed 3 months ago i had no reason to delve . Just searched and also saw diabetes type 1.5 what is that ?

Here's a useful link which might help you get your head round Type 1.5

Are you saying that if you already have pre existing heart defects, you are more likely in the short term to become a Diabetic?

A wise man says nothing because he knows too much; a learned man talks all the time because his cup is empty and he wants to fill it, but a quiet man listens, waits and watches because he knows what is coming

High insuln levels puts you at 5 times the risk for CHD. High cholesterol levels puts you at only 2 times the risk. Having both high tryglicerides, low HDL, and high insulin puts you at 16 times the risk. That would explain why now about 80% of diabeteics die of heart attack. Not to sound dreary, but it's now estimated that about 50% of the people in the US born after year 2,000 will develop type II diabetes. We don't need bombs to lower the population, just send Starbucks....

4 months ago (very very sadly) my husband - aged 41yrs had a hypo that caused a fit at 6:22am blood sugars 3.1, he fell to his death, his heart packed in!!! ..... Coroners report shoes that his arteries were 88% clogged in places, this i'm sure is due to poor diabetes control! That said, there is an element of lack of awareness by the professionals in the medical society!!!! .............please please please look after your blood control and insist upon YOUR SPECIALIST DIABETES NURSE GETTING YOU SCANNED FOR DAMAGE TO YOUR HEART|!!!! 55% fatalities in diabetes are caused by heart disease!!! be very aware!!!!
