DLA comes in two parts you can clam it if you work or not
you can claim one or both parts (like me)
I have cut it down to basics
Care Part .. You would need help Washing dressing bathing toilet , food medical needs
Mobility part.. Virtually unable to walk or need help because you can not go out safely on your own
Its very hard to get DLA Now just because you are using insulin you would not be able to make a claim unless you could not administer and manage your own diabetes that would come under the care part .

You could claim JSA and look for something else
JSA you only receive this for 6 months based on your NI payments Around £65 @ week :?
Thats How the bast#rds keep the unemployment stats down
(still unemployed but cant claim)
Then you would have to move on to income assessed JSA :? savings and household income :|
!! if your wife works and earns over £140 @ week the poverty level for a couple you will not
receive anything , however your wife could claim tax credits if shes working over 30 hrs
Depending who is working in your household will depend if you can get help with council tax
and or rent
