Type of diabetes
Type 1
Hi,

I've had type 1 diabetes a couple of months now and have managed to maintain good glucose control.
However, I haven't started back at the gym or playing football yet.
I usually do 20-30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes weight training and play a 90 minute football match once a week.
I wondered if anyone had any advice with regards to how I should go about re-introducing my two passions back into my life,
any advice whatsoever would be appreciated.

Thanks

My suggestion is to ease back into things and test very frequently so you can get an idea of how your levels are affected by each type of exercise.

-Generally, we're more sensitive to insulin when working out and most people have to adjust their insulin accordingly before exercise.
-Many people also find that certain types of exercise may cause them to spike at the beginning of a workout while other types of exercise may not cause initial spikes.
-Consistency is very important in my opinion. To avoid frustration, you don't want to reintroduce EVERYTHING all at once because there will be times when you go high/low. Eventually, when you get a better fell of things, you can get back to 100%, but ease back into it.

Sounds like very good advice. One gets a lot of that here.
