Diabetes and hair!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm type 2 since May 2014, on Metformin and canagliflozin. I have just noticed that my hair hasn't been growing as much as it used to and it is definitely thinner than it was. I had it last cut in July last year and it has not grown as much as it usually does. Is this a side effect of diabetes? Can I do anything to help this?

There is some evidence that high insulin levels are associated with thinning hair. So the answer is probably yes.

Have you checked your thyroid? And Ferritin and Hb? Very common causes for thinning hair.
