Hi there my name is Annie and I was wondering if it is normal to have headache after high blood sugars for a long period of time. My blood sugars have been high for a very long time now as been going through the a hard time but now they are coming down I've been getting really bad headache, is this normal?

Hi @Annabelle9870 ,

I'm not sure that there's much about diabetes that you can describe as normal because we are all so very different in our responses. During my re-adjustment period I had a pounding head for 2-3 weeks - like I could hear my heartbeat in my head. I was on the verge of going to the quack when it subsided.

You may just be suffering the affects of lowering your sugars but monitor the situation and seek medical advice if it doesn't start to ease soon.

Hi Annabelle9870 When my blood sugars were coming down I had muzzy headaches for a couple of weeks then slowly subsided. Sometimes even now I get the odd muzzy head don't know if this related to diabetes or not. I do suffer from sinus problems so could be this, I wouldn't worry too much see how you go, you can always go to see your doctor if they don't subside.
