HI i have been for a hearing test at my doctors and have to go for more indepth one as my hearing is terrible, i struggle to hear people talking in groups or anywhere if theres background noise and its been like this for years :(

Anyways my question is, is this common with diabetics, does anyone else have similar problems with their hearing and if so what treatment /advice where they given

Thx

Deafness is a very common feature (75%) of the weird form of diabetes that I have - maternally inherited diabetes and deafness syndrome http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/maternally-inherited-diabetes-and-deafness. It might be worth asking your GP/consultant to test for it. But of course deafness is a problem whether or not it's related to your diabetes, so it's a good thing you're getting it checked out. You can get excellent nearly-invisible hearing aids on the NHS these days if you need one.

Good luck with the tests.

I have poor hearing but only found out I am at risk or prediabetic. This seems to be connected.

well the good news is don't need a hearing aid, however my test did show i cant hear high pitches but apparently it may be just age related (i'm only 45!!) so have to go back now every 3 years ;)
