My daughter was diagnose 4 years ago. Just 12 hours after she started having epileptic episoded.....one hell of a day. (Some of you may remember me from previous posts)
She has been seizure free for 3 1/2 years until 3 weeks ago came of medication 7 months ago. They have got more regular, lasted longer and got more visual in nature ( left arm shaking violently unable to understand speech etc).
After 9 days in hospital having test, we were told its not epilepse. its non epileptic seizures caused by the stress and anxiety of being diagnosed with diabetes at such a young age and the resposibility that goes with that. She was told to go home go back to school and get on with things as there is no medication to help. Just normal routine. She has been refered to mental health team. SHe refuse to leave hospital for 2 days as she'didnt feel safe' . But finally came home yesterday. Blood glucose levels remain good.
Im very confused, worried and anxious so god only knows how she feels.

Any ideas.

Hello Mumof4

Can you find out from talking with your daughter exactly what the problems are:-

1. Is she being verbally bullied at school over being diabetic or is there another reason?
2. Is she having lots of hypos and is worried about dealing with them ok.
3. Is the need to inject insulin at lunchtime bothering her and making her feel uneasy with the need to keep testing bg levels.

Not sure if your daughter is using a pump but there are other insulin regimes besides basal/bolus. Twice daily insulin is still available.

She isnt being bullyied at school as far as we know. Her sister would know if she was. She is in top sets for all subjects. Loves school. ( very strange, I know...... Ha Ha) She doesnt go out and hangaround with friends, but does structured activies both in and out of school. School said she is very popular in class and has a wide circle of friends.
She doesnt suffer with hypos since going on pump. Which she loves, would rather give up mobile phone. Recently had best Hab1c ever. Everything appears to be fine.
We always ensure we have time for each child and do activivtiues with each of them. Everything fine at home.

All a bit of a mystery.
