Hi all, this is probably going to be a long post so apologies now. I was recently admitted to hospital with acute kidney failure. During all the prediagnosis tests my bg was recorded at 3.3. I was on 2000mg of metformin daily but during my stay in hospital my bg was all over the place. The hospital have now halved the daily dosage incase its causing the drastic drop. What I want to get to the bottom of if possible is this: Does diabetes effect the kidneys? I know metformin has an affect but not by how much. The hospital were useless with information. I don't know which problem hospitalized me or what i may have done wrong. I drink like a fish, I wee normally, I take my meds as directed, I don't know what else to do. Any help and/or information will be greatly appreciated. I am also on blood pressure meds and this seems to be a little erratic at the moment also.
