Diabetes and Overwhelmed

Hi All, I’ve had diabetes for 14 years and I’m at the point of giving up. I just feel soooooooo overwhelmed right now and since the pandemic, my diabetic team has not checked up on me or anything. It’s now coming up to 2 years since I’ve been abandoned by my diabetes team tbh.

I’m just way too emotional right now and just need some cheering up and motivation.

Nobody says managing diabetes is easy, it is easy to give up, but hopefully a few other diabetics will post with good advice and a few questions which will help with the advice.
This web site is an absolute mine of useful information, like a mine can I suggest you spend a little time reading the information.
If you have a blood test meter try posting your first thing in the morning ( fasting ) on one of the threads, this small thing will help you keep motivated.
Good luck, remember on this site you are not alone lots of posters have been down the same road. I shall follow this thread, pm if needed.
 
Really sorry you're struggling just now. Managing diabetes can feel relentless, but if you can tell us a bit more about which type of diabetes you have, and if you're on any medication etc, we'll try and help you. We're a friendly bunch, and lots of people have been helped by being on this forum, myself included. I'm sure there will be a lot more people reply to you tomorrow, but most people in the uk will be sleeping now. In the meantime, as has already been said, read around the forum.
 
Hi @ChuckJones it certainly not easy, and its very disappointing that your team has not helped.. they should be there for you pandemic or not even just to have you bloods etc done and give a telephone consultation.... if you feel your diabetes control is out of control then you could try and read out to your team, and if you can't get them directly you could ask your GP to re-refer you.

Also the forums here are a good place to try and ask for help.. saying that this post might be better off in a different sub forum as not so many people monitor the 'general chat' forum. if you would like this post moved to a T1 or T2 forum please let me know which one and i will happily do it for you, im sure you'll get more response.
