Hi,

I am a 2 year diagnosed Type 2 with reasonably long term depression / anxiety (5 yr). I have recently changed my anti depression meds from Venlaflaxine to Sertraline, I am only 4 days in and feel my sugars are out of control, due to thirst, constant need to go to the toilet and being absolutely knackered all of the time. The tiredness is well documented side effect of Sertraline. The Sertraline leaflet describes increase in BS levels as 'Possible side effects reported after marketing' presumably meaning didn't show up in the trials.

I can't get a GP appt for almost a week so wondering if anyone else experienced anything similar. I am on 3 x 500mg Metformin daily.

Thanks,
Paul

The sooner you can get a doc's appointment the better. Angle for an emergency appointment if you can because that dizzy combination of high glucose and tiredness could affect your mood badly. It's definitely not doing your glucose control any good.

Is this high BS side effect listed as a short-term or a long-term effect? Curious because I was on Sertraline myself for a couple of years, then switched back to fluoxetine last month. Now I'm wondering about the fluoxetine too...

I am on 100 mg of sertraline and have not noticed any differance with my levels
I also take an antipsycotic which is known to cause high blood levels but am being carefully monitored
I also Don, t have any side effects of tiredness with sertraline
I would try and get an earlier gp appointment
