diabetes and weight control

Probably not since that's extremely dangerous (assuming that by "using diabetes to control [one's] weight" you mean not taking appropriate insulin for meals)

apart from the fact that you could slip into a diabetic coma, suffer ketoacidosis and have long term problems such as blindness and other serious complications, I'd suggest its more sensible to exercise and eat healthily.

Im not guilty of using it on purpose but when I was younger and my control fell by the way side at various times in my life. And lets face it folks it happens to us all when you've had it years ,especially when you are a young adult...Well it was sometimes seen as a nice little side effect at times, bad I know but at least I'm being honest.
Yes we all know the dangers and there is no way I would treat my body like that now. Exercise is a major integral part of my life now so I would never need to abuse my Diabetes to lose weight but I do know there are some people out there who do it. I saw a docu on it a few years back.
The flip side is there are a lot of people who use a lot of extreme ways to control weight gain and control is the main issue here :( ....this is just another person using another dangerous way. They are all dangerous and will harm you in the long run.

Eat well and exercise :D it is the most rewarding and enjoyable way to live life and your hair and skin will look great on it and you will feel healthy and have a lot more energy.

I did (stupidly) use my diabetes to control my weight when I was younger. As I'm sure many people have told you before, too much insulin does make you put on weight. I was living on as little insulin as possible. My sugar levels were out of control and I made myself very ill as a result. The higher my sugar levels the more weight I lost. It was a really stupid thing to do I really do regret it. I ended up in hospital with DKA. Not something I would wish on anybody!

Try and reduce your insulin requirements safely. This will help with controlling your weight. Also go for low GI foods. They really help :)
