The other day at my secondary school i was doing my insulin injection as you do. When somebody asked if i was diabetic and i said yes and another kid said whats that and i said its because i don't have enough insulin. To which he says WHAT IS INSULIN? I nearly screamed. I go to this school and we have done it in science but awareness in teenagers is appalling i think. However on a brighter note JDRF have launched a campaign designed to do this and im going to talk to my head of year about this and ask if we can do a diabetes fund raising/awareness themed day or assembly

Hey TT17!

Great idea! Perhaps you could put together a presentation for your school on 'My average day' or something - show them what it is like growing up with diabetes.

All the best to you!

I think im going to email my head of year at the start of the new term as we have just finished for half term. If any one has done this in their school i would like some tips on what to do and say
