Diabetes.co.uk first started the #BloodSugarSelfie campaign in March 2014. 1.2 million people worldwide saw the hashtag during the first two days and over 1,500 selfies were received. Diabetes awareness November of each year is Diabetes Awareness Month, with diabetes awareness continuing to evolve following the inception of World Diabetes Day by the International Diabetes Federation in 1991.
