Hello, I had pancreas surgery in 2008 to have what turned out to be a benign cyst removed, since then i have been labelled a type 2 diabetic. I take no medication and until recently my glucose levels have been below 7mmols. my last fasting test showed to be 7.1. I am also under active thyroid, diagnosed after pancreas surgery. I have been advised to loose some weight & a cm from my waist. I have purchased my own glucose monitor & that's where I am totally confused - 2 hours after my evening meal I can test between 5.7 & 6.3. I believe this is good, however after nothing further to eat or drink i test again in the morning and I am always above 7 but below 8. I don't understand why I test lower after my meal than I do in the mornings after nothing to eat for hours? My doctor doesn't know why either, I feel alone & even when I do research there is never any info for pancreas surgery diabetes.

I had my pancreas totally removed last November, so I am totally insulin dependent. I understand you feeling alone, it is very difficult to find any information on surgical diabetes.
I love reading this forum but I feel 'separate' from everyone & if I post I feel side lined to some degree, I get it, I'm not Type 1 (though closest to that) or Type 2, but I have learnt a lot from reading on here.

I know nothing of Type 2, other than what I've read here, I wish I could answer your questions, I'm sure someone will be along with an answer for you.
Best Wishes.
