many recently diagnosed type 2's are not fat. These articles that just talk about "Diabetes", when in fact they are only referring to T2D would make my blood boil if I could be bothered to care.
However I do feel sympathy for T1D sufferers who get painted with the same brush
I don't think any of us should be tarred with any brush. Insulin resistance can make someone fat for years before they are diagnosed with T2. As @lucylocket61 said in the OP...These articles that just talk about "Diabetes", when in fact they are only referring to T2D would make my blood boil if I could be bothered to care.

Yes there is a lot of misunderstanding. People also fail to see that the reason someone is fat could be T2, and it's being fat that stops them from being active and playing sport. We didn't get fat because we weren't active. We aren't lazy, but our bodies don't work like other people's.I think there is a general misunderstanding about diabetes. I think people associate 'diabetes' with 'fat' regardless of type. Having been diagnosed type 1 recently the most common reaction is "but how?! You are fit and healthy and play sport!".

I also find that if i up my carb intake, or remember what i was like when i was eating more and more carbs "to give me energy" that I was exhausted all the time and felt like I was wading through treacle stuck in first gear.Yes there is a lot of misunderstanding.
