I had my first appointment with an Italian consultant today! I feel very proud because I spoke Italian with some staff and did it all on my own ☺️

ANYWAY.

She was great and spoke good English but now I’ve had time to reflect (after the “I’m really doing it!” high), I’m slightly peeved/ have questions. If you have any experience/ thoughts, please let me know.

1) she put me on humalog (I’ve been novo rapid for 15 years). I asked the difference and she said it’s the same? Internet is vague.

2) I use 6mm needles (happily) but she would only prescribe me 4mm. The internet is clear it doesn’t matter but it honestly feels/ looks like insulin’s is leaking out more!

3) they only prescribed me disposable pens, whereas I normally get vials for my pens which have timers on them to help me check I injected!!

Any supportive words to back up the doctor and calm my fears?

Next appointment is February so not too bad but if I’m high all the time between now and then it seems a long way off!!

PS injected 40 mins ago with 4mm needle and blood was 8.6; 20 mins later 9.7; then 15 mins after that 10!!!

My dentist told me his brother whom is also T1 just recently changed from 6mm to 4mm and it made an enormous difference, better control and he needed less insulin.
