Hi everyone. I'm new on here. I've been t1 for 23 yrs and I wanted some advice. I'm getting married in 6 weeks and i wanted to know how any of you managed your testing and injecting on your wedding day? I hope someone can give me some advice.
Many thanks x

Re: Diabetes in your wedding day

I've never been in your position, but my thought is: your fiance is marying you because he loves you.He doesn't want you to be ill, so keep as much to your routine as you can.
I don't use insulin but my T1 husband doess and we've attended quite a few weddings of nephews and nieces the last couple of years and he's always found something sensible to eat and drink and found time to inject. Just don't get blood on your wedding gown!
Think everything through in the days before the big event and you'll be just fine.

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. It must be a mixture of excitement and nerves. I wasn't diabetic when I got married, a few centuries ago now  , there is a lot going on, meeting and greeting, eating, dancing, speeches, testing and injecting. A high % of the wedding guests will know you are diabetic, so just keep testing throughout the day, with wet wipes and tissues handy and with your wedding dress, then possibly get a close friend ( bridesmaid, mum orsister to help lift the dress whilst you inject.

I'm sure you will have a wonderful day and I wish you all the luck in the world for your new journey with your husband to be.

Best wishes RRB

Hello

When I got married, I made a small, pomander style bag, that one the official bit was over, my Bruce handed too me along with my bouquet she had been holding. It then looked like I had been given a gift or part of the bouquet so no one even knew u had bg monitor, bens, hypo stop and tissues in it! It just hung on my wrist for the rest of the day!

Congratulations by the way!

Re: Diabetes in your wedding day

Thanks lady's. I've bought myself a ivory handbag to use at the reception with all my pens, blood monitor and bits in. I know it's not ideal but I was considering running my sugars high before the ceremony so I don't need to worry about hypos. Between the ceremony photos and getting to the reception I don't think I'll have time for a blood sugar test. At the reception I'll be fine. It should be fun trying to inject under my wedding dress.
Thank you for sharing your story's with me. It's nice to know I'm not the only one whose done this ;-)

Hi, I'm the same as you, only I'm getting married in 3 months. I think though like you have done, a little tiny pouch or bag with all your stuff in it and just keep checking yourself as you normally would. Especially during the breaks in the day. After all your the bride! Your allowed to do whatever you want. Congrats and enjoy yourself :D

Re: Diabetes in your wedding day

I've been married 9 years and had no issues on my wedding day. However, I have had this whining, nagging noise in my head ever since!

Don't let it stress you out. When I got married I tested as normal when I woke, had breakfast as normal and tested before I walked down the isle ( well a path to a gazebo ) then tested before we had our meal. Don't let it spoil your day. If you need to test then test. No one is going to blink an eye. X enjoy your day and -RELAX.

Re: Diabetes in your wedding day

Thank you all for sharing. I was very curious on how people like myself coped on their big day. I'll be fine and I'm planning on not drinking too much. Well I'll try not to ;-)
