Have wanted to make changes to my insurance and retirement policies. My insurer put me through a health check today, my 3 month average came in at 6.4, nurse told me the insurer is looking for a max of 6 and may therefore not underwrite.
What are others' experiences with this.
The same insurer refused to approve chronic meds benefit on my medical plan saying my tests did not point to diabetes although had been diagnosed as diabetic when i fell ill on a foreign trip in 2017. I subsequently applied for life insurance which was approved with loadings. This is the policy that i am trying to update now for which i took the medicals today.
Any experience, advice?
Can I ask which country you are in? (This makes a big difference to insurance advice). If you're in the UK chronic meds should be covered by the NHS? Also, what type of diabetes do you have and what medication do you take for it at the moment?
(I'd be overjoyed with an hba1c of 6.4, and my specialist would hate me if I went down to 6, but then I'm a T1 who has had a history of bad hypos if my levels go to normal.)

Thanks Ellie, i'm in South Africa. I would say i'm type 2, on diagnosis in 2017 i was put on Metformin while abroad. Upon my return i was taken off medication so been managing this through lifestyle and diet.
