Diabetes!!
So…Had an appointment to see my Diabetes Nurse yesterday. She says I’m doing really well. I am in range 70% of the time which is good! Still telling me to not worry too much about the HIGHS! My spikes in the morning is more than likely something called The Dawn Phenomenon!

My next appointment to see her and the Dietitian is 10th July. Just so I can get a bit of a head start on carb counting before I do a DAFNE (Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating) course in October!

Just want to say congratulations on the amazing results, I’ve always been told to aim for at least 70% in range and generally I do stick to that. I would also echo what your nurse said about not worrying in regards to highs, if you are in range 70% of the time you probably aren’t high that often!

I have no advice for dawn phenomenon I could only counter it by giving some fast acting insulin before I knew I was going to go high, I was never a breakfast eater although was told eating could possibly help counter it. My dawn phenomenon is much better now with an insulin pump but that isn’t always an option for every single person with diabetes.

Thank you very much! No I’m hardly ever high! Only the odd spike depending on what I’ve eaten!

No worries! I never used to be a breakfast person either but now I eat breakfast everyday with out fail! I can’t wait to be on an insulin pump!! I’m really struggling at the moment with all the daily injections, having to inject and eat at certain times which isn’t always possible when you have things to do!
