diabetes support group

does anyone know of any support groups in or around the macclesfield area, i am desperate to talk to and meet some other ppl with this illness and even though this website is extremely helpful it would be nice to have someone to actually talk to. if anyone can help thank you very much.
 
I learnt of a local (to me) support group from people at the diabetic charity shop. So if you get no joy look for a diabetic charity shop nearby, they may be able to help.
 
oh right, that sounds like a good idea, i might have to just ask the diabetes nurse though as i dont think there is a charity shop near where i live but thanks anyway!!

If you go onto Diabetes.org.uk you will be able to search through and find out if there is a support group near to you. Not sure where Macclesfield is but there is a group at Chesterfield.

Yes, Azam Malik, a Type 2 diabetic on oral meds can follow the Atkins diet. What meds are you on? metformin, or something else?

I don't know the BBC ref you refer to - what does it say?

I have a slightly modified version of the Atkins diet posted as a Sticky Thread on the Low carb DIabetes Diet forum on this site - have a look at it and see what you think. Viv's Modified Atkins Diet.
