Diabetes Type 2 Thrush on Nipples?

I am a menopausal woman ages 52 and was diagnosed with type 2 18 months ago. I am overweight at a bmi of 36. Recently my blood sugars have been around the 9-13 mark and i have developed what i think is thrush on my nipples. Everything online only talks of nipple thrush connected to breastfeeding, i can find no info on this. Has any one else experienced this and how do i get rid of it (and how did i get it?)
