Hi, I'm 27, and suspect that I'm diabetic. My sugar level was 12.1 and after eating 10.1. I'm always thirsty, need to go to the toilet a lot, blurry vision, dizziness and my eyes feel weird. I'm constantly tired, but struggle to sleep. At times my heart beats fast as well. Is this diabetes???

Hi they do look like the symptoms of diabetes, I would make an appointment with your doctor to get checked out. Also a lot of chemists do a free diabetic check, where they do a finger prick test to see what your BS levels are. Depending on what they see they may well recommend you to see a doctor asap, if your result is border line they may well ask you to come back 2 hours after eating.

Hi. It sounds very likely that you are diabetic. At age 27 I'm afraid it is possible you are a Late onset Type 1 (LADA) rather than Type 2 unless you are very much overweight. Do get to a GP as soon as possible, tell him the symptoms and ask for a diabetes test which will normally be a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) or even an HBa1C blood test. In the meantime have a low-carb diet to try to keep the blood sugar down and have plenty of water; keep monitoring your sugars. If you are diagnosed with diabetes, but the diet doesn't help, the GP may prescribe tablets as well. If necessary tests can be done to check for LADA rather than T2.

Thank you! I took my glucose level on 2 different occasion, it was still high, I took it yesterday again, and it was 5.8. Does this mean its normal now? Or can it jump up and down?

Sugar levels can jump all over the place, depending on when you had last eat, what you have eaten and what time period you have left between eating or not eaten when you test.

Hi, suggest you visit your GP who should a arrange a glucose tolerance test for you. That is a test under 'controlled' conditions as glucose levels in non-diabetics and diabetics alike can do strange things on a day by day basis. Then, in the event the result is positive, you're already in as good a place as any for advice and support.

Thank you so much! I will visit the GP! I tested again this morning, it was 21.5. And after eating it dropped to 3.6. It defiantly got my attention! Thank you once again!
