Type 2 (8 yrs) now on insulin. Arghhh just got back from my check at the Drs, the nurse has totally deflated my joy that my HBA1c has fallen for the second time since starting in insulin last August. Last June I was at 107 on the max dose of various oral medications which was clearly not working! Tried & failed (extreme reactions) with both byletta and victoza. So the specialist team put me onto novo mix insulin. First test after insulin dropped to 77 with no weight gain, now down to 68 still no weight gain. I know I still have more to do to achieve optimum levels but a little bit of praise would have been nice, but no all she could say is that is very high not good enough. I now feel like having a good cry!

I've been on victoza and lost a lot of weight because of it and I am on humilin M3 insulin and was on it for around 1 and 1/2 years all together and now I am on humilin M3 and take a lot more insulin than you do now and when I was put on victoza I was on nearly 200 units of insulin a day now I take around what you do a day so you don't need to worry what they tell you as I never thought about it that much until now and I have had type 2 Diabetes for 22 years now

Hi @Flossmc and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that the practice nurse was so dismissive of your HbA1c reduction.
You have done really well to reduce from 107 last August to 68 now. Have you done that with medication alone or have you changed your diet? A lot of people on this forum have reduced their HbA1c levels and weight by adopting a Low Carbohydrate High Fat approach to eating.
