Diabetic Clinic

I've got my first diabetic clinic appointment tomorrow! What's the general order of things at these clinics??? I've already had my bloods taken in preparation? I'm seeing te nurse and doctor :/ x

Hight, wight maybe. Usually go over you hba1c if you had that done. Tell you how your kidneys and liver and other internal bits are doing.

They'll ask how your sugars are doing on a day to day basis (take in some results if you monitor and record) and generally have a chat about how it's all going.

They usually offer help in regards to any worries you might have too.

Nah, nothing too bad.

I really enjoy my visits, I either end up with free stuff or have new tweaks to try out with my insulin regime.

Still waiting to see the doctor but just seen the nurse, my HBA1C is 6.5 which is great as it hasn't gone up from my first one! They had my BMI as 32 though as they had my height wrong :/ they had 5ft2 instead of 5ft6!

She's a little concerned as I have numbness in my right foot and calf but its from a trapped nerve I had over a year ago... The doctor will make a decision about that! Will let you know how the doctor goes!!

Well my cholesterol is high so been put on statins ;( but gutted tbh and asked him if I could just give it another couple of months and he said not really! Can stay on the same dose of metformin as before so not too bad apart fronted statins really x

What's wrong with taking statins ? There are some side effects but danger of high cholesterol is far higher. I take statins and am happy that I do lol !

No it wasn't too painful lol they seem obsessed with trying to get me on contraception lol don't know why because I'm 100% on my own??

I guess I'm having a bit of a moment with regards to the statins. Up until last August I was a reasonably healthy woman! Come August, i found myself in hospital for the first time and being diagnosed with a heart condition! Then diagnosis of diabetes 3 weeks later and high cholesterol and I guess I know I should take them but I guess I'm just feeling a little down in the dumps at how quickly my health seems to have changed at the ripe old age of 31!!!
